Action Plan

Building a windbreak hedge for the orchard
Since October 2015, Friends' Field has carried out a soil restoration programme of land management to improve drainage and fertility. In  2016 we planted a green manure crop and planted an orchard of apple, plum and pear trees and blackcurrant bushes. We have also fenced the site and with volunteer help, built a shelter and composting toilet using timber from the adjacent wood.

Composting toilet Mark 2 built August 2018 with recycled materials and
holly trunks from the wood with rebuilt stone wall.
In 2019, Friends' Field entered into a long-term lease agreement with local social enterprise Regather Ltd, which is now managing the majority of the site for organic horticulture and fruit trees.
